Helen recently went to Mauritius with Beachcomber Holiday to celebrate their Big 50 !
“How lucky was I….a week in Mauritius sampling the activities and sights of the amazing island but best of all staying and looking around the Beachcomber Resorts and Spa properties.
First stop was the two 5* properties Dinarobin and Paradis Golf Resort and Spa., These two properties have the Le Morne Mountain as their backdrop and have beautiful sandy beaches. Dinarobin has a more colonial feel to the resort whilst Paradis is more contemporary. Between them they have eight restaurants and plenty of complimentary land and water sports to keep you entertained.
Our second centre was in the north of the island at Grand Baie. This area is ideal for those who like to get out into a town. Grand Baie has many bars, restaurants and shops. Beachcomber have three properties in this area. Mauricia Beachcomber Resort and Spa is in the heart of
Grand Baie and is their 4* property. They are now finishing off a refurbishment and the rooms are bright and airy. Canonnier Beachcomber Resort and Spa is located just outside Grand Baie. This property has a lovey laid back feel, fantastic family rooms are available and it’s not far from Grand Baie.
Trou Aux Biches is the third property. This resort is all suite and has 333 suites and 27 villas so caters for both families and couples. The beach here is probably one of the best on the island and again complimentary water and land sports are available.
Victoria Beachcomber resort and Spa has probably got the largest rooms I have seen for families. Recently opened, is the adult only – Victoria for Two which is adjacent to the main hotel. It has 40 ocean facing rooms & 17 swim up rooms. Victoria for two has its own adult restaurant and bar however clients are also able to dine in the other restaurants in the main hotel.
Our final stay was at the Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa which is located at the southern tip of the island. Only ten minutes drive from the airport the Shandrani is an all inclusive resort with three beach areas and again, lots of complimentary land and water sports. This resort has many larger room types so it is ideal for families.
Beachcomber Hotels are ideal for weddings as they have very experienced wedding teams to make sure the occasion runs smoothly and there is only one wedding per day at each hotel.
Mauritius has many activities to offer – quad biking, zip wiring, snorkeling and sailing are just a few .Driving around the island is very easy as the cars are right hand drive and this way you can explore the wild beaches and beautiful temples.
Several airlines go into Mauritius. I travelled with Emirates via Dubai from Manchester but Air Mauritius and British Airways have flights from Heathrow and Gatwick.
Mauritius is a perfect holiday destination for families and couples of any age.
