Hollie has been to Ischia in Italy

“I’ve just returned from a 4 night break with Classic Collection Holidays to whats known as the hidden gem of Italy- Ischia,
50 minutes by Hydrofoil (2 hours by ferry) from Naples. There are flights from Leeds 3 times a week to Naples which makes this destination very easy.
Ischia is stunning and has everything going for it – scenery, great food, lovely wine, vineyards, spas, thermal pools, beach coves, good shopping, not to mention the people watching opportunities!
Ischia covers 47 sq km and lies at the northern end of the Bay of Naples and is almost 4 times the size of Capri, its sister Island (but is nowhere near as busy). It’s an island of volcanic origins and the thermal springs have led to the creation of numerous spa complexes and thermal pools with great healing and relaxing properties. The island has breath-taking views from all angles and fine sandy beaches. The colourful hilltop houses and lack of crowds are another bonus. It is ideal for Spa & beach lovers as well as walkers and nature lovers.
Things to bear in mind – it is a thermal island with natural thermal water and the majority of the hotels use thermal water in their swimming pools but children under 12yrs are not allowed to spend more than 5 or10 minutes at a time in thermal water (if at all). Therefore it’s not a destination designed for young children and people with mobility issues may struggle as there are steps, rocky paths and uneven ground everywhere.
Approx 50 mins by hydrofoil from Ischia is the sister Island of Capri. Capri is a lot smaller but far busier and has the buzz of day trippers wanting to explore its iconic scenery, famous from pictures and movies alike. Capri has an exclusive feel (with prices to match!). Its cobbled streets, exclusive bars/restaurants and stunning hotels make Capri perfect for a 2 or 3 night stay. You could then move to the calmness of Ischia for a longer period to unwind and relax!
Overall, I would say Ischia exceeded my expectation and I would definitely recommend a visit. I saw many hotels and experienced fabulous food & hospitality which I will be more than happy to share if you are interested in visiting this beautiful island – Bella Italia!”
