Silversea – Silver Shadow

“I was lucky enough to be invited to on a 3-night short cruise with Silversea Cruises. The beautiful Silver Shadow is a Millennium Class ship from Silversea and is larger than some of their other ships but even so, still only has 388 guests. With over 300 crew on board, you are totally cared for in every way! I stayed in a Veranda Suite which is 32 square metres in size and is a really lovely suite. You have a dressing room, a veranda, a living area, bedroom and full bathroom with bath & shower cubicle. It was a real treat to have a proper bath on a cruise ship!  Every suite has a Butler who is there for your every need. Anything at all that you need, you just ask your wonderful Butler. You really are encouraged to use them (otherwise they have nothing to do!) and this could be anything from offering to unpack your luggage, offering to hang clothing and set out personal items, chilling your preferred beverages in your suite’s refrigerator, discuss any special food preferences with the chef, make onboard dinner reservations, arrange private fitness sessions to providing a forgotten travel plug in my case!

The Silver Shadow has a selection of restaurants and bars and you don’t have to worry about the gratuities, beverages in-Suite and throughout the Ship or the gourmet dining because it’s all included.

The Silver Shadow was last re-furbished in 2017 and so is ready for another refurbishment which is in fact scheduled to be carried out at the end of this year. They had one cabin which had been done and what a difference! Although the layout was the same the redecoration totally transformed it. The new modern colour scheme gave it a lovely contemporary look which is set to really update the whole ship and completely transform it.

If you are lucky enough to be able to sail with an Ultra Luxury cruise line you are highly unlikely to go back to a mainstream cruise company. Yes, you pay more but you certainly get more! You will get nearly double the space, a crew to guest ratio of nearly 1:1 and with a smaller ship, there is no big queue to disembark every day. The food & service are fabulous with over 900 destinations across all 7 continents – you are spoiled for choice.”
